Drive my car home service for you, your guests and your car

Two vetted chauffeurs arrive together. One drives your own car to your home or garage; the other drives you and your guests wherever the night needs to end.

A drive my car home service that solves both halves of the problem

At the end of a long dinner there are two things that need to get home: you and your car. A taxi or a rideshare handles the first. It does nothing for the second. The car stays in a hotel garage or a restaurant lot, and tomorrow begins with a trip back across the city to fetch it.

RydeBack is a drive my car home service built around that gap. We dispatch two vetted chauffeurs as a pair. Chauffeur 1 takes your keys and drives your own car to your home, your private garage, a hotel or any address you name. Chauffeur 2 drives you and your guests in a RydeBack car. Nobody is left behind, and nothing is left parked.

If you have ever searched for a driver to drive my car home or someone to drive my car home, you were probably looking for exactly this. The difference is in how it is done. Your key is sealed the moment we take it, your car is filmed before and after, and every step is sent to you as it happens. You can read how the three RydeBack service options compare, or start with the wider designated driver service for luxury car owners.

How the evening runs, from first call to keys returned

The process is the same in every city, and it is designed so that you never wonder where your car is.

  1. You book. Tell us the pickup point, where you are going and where the car should end up. Today that is by phone, email or the chat button.
  2. You receive your chauffeurs. We assign two chauffeurs and send their details to you by email and SMS.
  3. They travel to you together. You get an en route update, then both chauffeurs meet you at the venue, hotel, terminal or club.
  4. Your car is documented. Before the engine starts, chauffeur 1 completes a photo and video walk-around. The files go straight to your private evidence vault.
  5. Your key is sealed. It goes into a numbered, signal-blocking (Faraday) pouch, and you are told it is secured.
  6. Both cars depart. You follow the trip live in the RydeBack web app, with a message when you leave and another when the car arrives.
  7. The car is handed back. A second walk-around is recorded at drop-off, the handover is confirmed with your PIN, and you receive a final keys-returned message.

The full custody steps are laid out on our page about how we protect your vehicle. The short version: your car is never out of sight of the record.

Drive me home in my car, or drive me and my car home separately

People phrase the request in different ways, and each phrasing maps neatly onto one of our three service modes.

  • "Drive me and my car home." This is our default, the split mode. You and your guests ride in the RydeBack car with chauffeur 2. Chauffeur 1 drives your car to its destination. Afterwards, chauffeur 2 collects chauffeur 1, so you never see the logistics.
  • "Drive me home in my car." Choose ride in your own car. Chauffeur 1 drives you in your own vehicle, with your own seats and your own music. Chauffeur 2 follows as a chase car, then takes chauffeur 1 back. The price is the same as the split mode.
  • "Take the car one way and me another." Choose different destinations. Your car might go to a garage across town while you head to a hotel. Chauffeur 1 returns by taxi or rideshare. We estimate that return fare and include it in your upfront price, then settle it to the receipt at cost. It can never exceed the estimate by more than 25%.

You pick the mode when you book, and you can talk it through with us first if the evening has several moving parts.

A designated driver for your own luxury or exotic car

Handing over the keys to a car you care about is a serious decision. A general designated driver app treats every vehicle the same. We do not. Every RydeBack chauffeur has passed city approval, a criminal background check, a driving-record check, an interview and a supervised assessment drive. Exotic and high-value cars are assigned only to chauffeurs in our professional tier, who have been assessed for that class of vehicle.

That matters for owners of supercars, grand tourers and anything with an unusual gearbox, launch mode or low nose. When you book, tell us the make and model, and we match the chauffeur to the car rather than the other way round. You can read more about who drives for us on our RydeBack chauffeurs page.

Some cars should not be driven at all in certain conditions. In Toronto, from November to April, supercars on summer tyres are not driven in snow. On those nights we offer the split mode with your car left secure where it is, or collected on a later, clearer day. The designated driver service in Toronto page covers the winter rule in more detail.

Commercial insurance is arranged for the service, and the details are confirmed at booking.

Three ways to RydeBack

What our drive my car home service costs

Pricing is built from two parts. You pay for two chauffeurs by the hour, counted garage to garage, with a three-hour minimum in half-hour steps. You also pay a per-kilometre rate, but only for your own trip. The time the chauffeurs spend getting back is already inside the hours, so you are never billed for the same distance twice. Estimated tolls are included in the quote.

  • Toronto: CA$180 per chauffeur-hour plus CA$7 per km. Minimum before distance: CA$1,080.
  • Miami and New York: US$125 per chauffeur-hour plus US$5 per km. Minimum before distance: US$750.
  • London: £95 per chauffeur-hour plus £3.80 per km. Minimum before distance: £570.
  • Dubai: AED 460 per chauffeur-hour plus AED 18.50 per km. Minimum before distance: AED 2,760.

Some realistic evenings, shown as ranges because every route is different:

  • A three-hour Miami dinner with a 20 to 35 km trip home comes to roughly US$850 to US$925. See our Miami service for local details.
  • A three-hour London evening covering 15 to 25 km comes to roughly £627 to £665. Details are on the London page.
  • A three-and-a-half-hour Dubai night out with a 30 to 45 km trip comes to roughly AED 3,775 to AED 4,055. The Dubai page explains how our partner model works there.

Payment is taken in full when you book. There is no deposit. Tips are optional and go entirely to your chauffeurs. A cleaning fee applies only if the RydeBack car is soiled, charged after the trip with photos. For your own route, the instant RydeBack price shows each line before you commit.

Why not just leave the car and take a cab?

Leaving the car is a reasonable choice, and plenty of people make it. It just carries costs that rarely show up on the night. There is overnight parking at the venue, if it is allowed at all. There is the morning trip back to collect it. There is a high-value car sitting in a public lot, and a keyless fob that may be in a coat pocket within range of the car. For cars that are hard to replace, those small risks add up.

The alternative some people take, driving home after a couple of glasses, is not a real option. Road-safety bodies are clear about the risk. The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration explains how even small amounts of alcohol affect judgement and reaction time in its guidance on drunk driving. In Britain, the government's THINK! drink-driving guidance makes the same point about how little it takes to be over the limit. The Foundation for Advancing Alcohol Responsibility also publishes plain-English material on planning a safe ride home at responsibility.org.

A RydeBack booking removes the decision. You arrive in your own car, enjoy the evening on your own terms, and both of you are home by the end of it.

What to have ready when you call

A few details make the handover quick and the night uneventful. None of them are complicated, but it helps to have them to hand before you phone or write to us.

  • The car. Make, model, colour and registration, plus the gearbox and anything unusual: a nose lift, a hidden start button, a valet key, a parking brake that confuses newcomers.
  • Where it is parked. The venue, the level and bay in a garage, or the name of the valet stand holding the key.
  • Where it is going. The full address, gate or garage codes, the spot you want it left in, and whether the garage door needs to be closed behind it.
  • Who receives the key. You, a family member, a house manager, a concierge, or a key safe. We confirm the handover with your PIN.
  • Where you are going. Your own destination and the number of guests, so chauffeur 2 brings a suitable RydeBack car.
  • Timing. When you expect to leave, and whether the end of the evening is fixed or likely to move.

If you are booking for someone else, such as a guest, a parent or an executive, give us their mobile number too. They receive the same step-by-step messages, so nobody is left waiting at the door wondering what happens next.

Where we drive and how to book today

RydeBack operates in Toronto, Miami, New York, London and Dubai. In New York, the passenger car is operated by a TLC-licensed partner; you can read more on our New York service page. In Dubai, chauffeurs are employed through an RTA-licensed partner.

Typical pickups include restaurants, private members' clubs, charity galas, arenas, hotels, airports and private aviation terminals, cruise ports, marinas and train stations. Long-distance trips to second homes are welcome too. Hotels, family offices and corporate teams can book on behalf of a guest or principal; the people we serve page explains how that works.

Online reservations are opening soon. Until then, book by phone on 1-877-860-3388, by email at support@rydeback.com, or through the chat button. When online booking opens, it will need at least two hours' notice. For complex plans, or to set up a regular booking, use our contact page.

Frequently asked

Questions, answered.

Is there a service that will drive me and my car home?

Yes. RydeBack sends two vetted chauffeurs. One drives your own car to your home, garage or any address. The other drives you and your guests in a RydeBack car. You can also ride in your own car while the second chauffeur follows. We operate in Toronto, Miami, New York, London and Dubai.

How much does it cost to have someone drive my car home?

You pay for two chauffeurs by the hour, garage to garage, with a three-hour minimum, plus a per-km rate on your trip only. In Toronto that is CA$180 per chauffeur-hour and CA$7 per km, so a three-and-a-half-hour evening with a 25 to 35 km trip comes to roughly CA$1,435 to CA$1,505. In New York, a four-hour evening covering 25 to 40 km comes to roughly US$1,125 to US$1,200. Check your own route with the instant price.

Is there a ride-hailing service that drives your car home?

Ride-hailing apps are built to carry you, not your car. Your vehicle stays where you parked it. RydeBack is designed for the opposite case: one chauffeur drives your own car to its destination while a second chauffeur drives you, so you and the car both get home the same night.

Can someone drive my car home if I have had a few drinks?

That is exactly when to book us. Our chauffeur drives your car and you do not drive at all. Please do not move the car yourself before we arrive; tell us where it is parked and we will collect it there.

Can I ride in my own car while your chauffeur drives it?

Yes. Choose ride in your own car when you book. Chauffeur 1 drives you in your own vehicle and chauffeur 2 follows in a chase car, then takes chauffeur 1 back. It costs the same as the split mode.

What happens to my keys during the trip?

Your key is sealed in a numbered, signal-blocking pouch as soon as we take it. At drop-off the handover is confirmed with your PIN, and you receive an update at each step: assigned, en route, keys secured, departed, arrived and keys returned.

How far in advance should I book?

As early as you can, especially for gala nights and big events. Today we take bookings by phone, email and chat. When online reservations open, they will need at least two hours' notice. Cancelling 72 hours or more before pickup gives a full refund; see our cancellation policy for the rest.

Will you drive a supercar or a manual?

Yes. Tell us the make, model and gearbox when you book. Exotic and high-value cars go only to chauffeurs in our professional tier who have been assessed for that type of vehicle.

Can I book a driver to drive my car home for someone else?

Yes. Assistants, family members and hotel concierges often arrange the trip for the person who needs it. Give us the passenger's mobile number and they will receive every update, from assignment to keys returned.

Can my car go to a different address from me?

Yes. Choose different destinations. Your car goes to one address, such as a garage, and you go to another. Chauffeur 1 returns by taxi or rideshare; that fare is estimated upfront and settled at cost, capped at 25% above the estimate.
