A designated driver service Toronto car owners can hand their keys to
Toronto evenings rarely end where they started. Dinner in Yorkville turns into a nightcap on King Street, a game at Scotiabank Arena runs into overtime, a gala at Roy Thomson Hall finishes after midnight. If you drove in, the car is now part of the problem. RydeBack is the designated driver service Toronto owners can book to solve it for both of you.
The service is built for owners of luxury and exotic cars. We send two vetted chauffeurs together. Chauffeur 1 drives your own car to your home, your private garage or any address you choose. Chauffeur 2 carries you and your guests in a RydeBack car. When people search for a designated driver Toronto service or ask us to drive my car home Toronto, this is the arrangement they are describing.
Toronto is our home city, and the same custody procedure applies here as everywhere else: the photo and video walk-around, the sealed key pouch, the PIN-confirmed handover and the live trip status in our web app. The full custody steps are on how we protect your vehicle, and the general service is described on our drive my car home service page.
Across the GTA, from Yorkville to King City
The Greater Toronto Area is wide, and journeys home cross it in every direction. The most common pattern starts downtown or in Yorkville and ends in one of the established residential neighbourhoods to the north: Rosedale and Forest Hill close in, Lawrence Park and Hoggs Hollow further up, and the large estates of the Bridle Path beyond. Those are short distances, so the three-hour minimum usually covers the evening.
Other trips head out of the city. Oakville's lakeshore lies to the west along Lake Ontario. King City sits to the north, in open country with long private driveways. Either can be reached on the 407 ETR, an electronic toll highway. You never deal with the transponder or the bill: estimated tolls are calculated into your price before you pay.
A few sample evenings, priced at CA$180 per chauffeur-hour plus CA$7 per km on your trip:
- Yorkville to Rosedale or Forest Hill, 5 to 12 km, inside a three-hour booking: roughly CA$1,115 to CA$1,165.
- Downtown to the Oakville lakeshore, 35 to 45 km, over 3.5 to 4 hours garage to garage: roughly CA$1,505 to CA$1,755.
- The financial district to King City, 40 to 50 km, over 3.5 to 4 hours: roughly CA$1,540 to CA$1,790.

Pearson, Billy Bishop, Union Station and the private terminals
Travel days are a natural fit for a two-chauffeur service. If you are flying into Toronto Pearson, we can bring your own car to meet you, so you leave the terminal in the car you know while a second chauffeur handles extra passengers or luggage in the RydeBack car. Private aviation terminals (FBOs) at Pearson work the same way. Heading out instead? Chauffeur 1 can drive you there in your car and chauffeur 2 can take the car home, so it never sits in long-term parking.
Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, the island airport on the downtown waterfront, suits short business trips. Union Station is the hub for VIA Rail, the UP Express and GO Transit. Both are easy points for a handover: you step off the train or the plane, and both chauffeurs are waiting.
A typical airport evening, such as Pearson to the Bridle Path over 20 to 30 km and 3 to 3.5 hours garage to garage, comes to roughly CA$1,220 to CA$1,470. If your flight times are uncertain, tell us the flight details at booking so we can plan the hours around the arrival.
Game nights, TIFF and the gala season
Toronto's calendar has a rhythm, and the nights when a ride home matters most follow it. Maple Leafs and Raptors home games fill Scotiabank Arena through the winter. Blue Jays games bring summer crowds to the Rogers Centre. The Honda Indy Toronto takes over the summer streets by the lake, and the Royal Horse Show arrives each November. In September, the Toronto International Film Festival fills downtown with premieres, dinners and parties that run late.
Then there is the charity gala season, when black-tie evenings stack up week after week. These are the nights when a private chauffeur Toronto booking makes the most sense. You arrive in your own car, the car is collected from the valet line or the garage, and you leave with your guests in a RydeBack car while yours is driven home separately.
Traffic around the arenas can be heavy on event nights, so call us as soon as you have the date. For longer evenings with several stops, see our private chauffeur service.
Local rules, handled.
- Ontario criminal blood-alcohol limit is 0.08; provincial sanctions start at 0.05.
- The 407 ETR is an electronic toll highway; estimated tolls are included in your price.
- Winter conditions November to April: supercars on summer tyres are not driven in snow.
Muskoka, cottage country and the marinas
Many Toronto households split the summer between the city and cottage country. Muskoka is a long-distance trip, and it is where our garage-to-garage pricing earns its keep. The hours run from the moment the chauffeurs leave our base to the moment they return, and that time already covers their drive back, so the kilometres are charged only on your own journey north.
A Friday run from the city to a Muskoka cottage, covering 160 to 220 km and taking 6.5 to 8 hours garage to garage, comes to roughly CA$3,460 to CA$4,420. If you would like the car to stay at the cottage while you travel on somewhere else, choose the different destinations mode: chauffeur 1 returns by taxi or rideshare, and that fare is estimated upfront and settled at cost.
Closer to home, the Royal Canadian Yacht Club on Toronto Island, the Port Credit marinas in Mississauga and Great Lakes cruise calls at the Port of Toronto are all regular pickup points. A long lunch on the water ends the same way as a dinner in town: both of you get home. For longer trips where you want a driver in your own car the whole way, see how to hire a driver to drive your car.
Valet lines, hotel garages and condo parking
Downtown Toronto handovers rarely happen on an open street. Your car is more likely to be with a restaurant valet, three levels down in a hotel garage, or in a condominium parking structure that needs a fob to get in and out. Each of those works, provided we know the details in advance.
- Valet. Tell us the venue and the valet company if you know it. Both chauffeurs meet you at the stand, and the walk-around is recorded as the car is brought up.
- Hotel or public garage. Give us the level and bay, and keep the exit ticket or payment method handy so the car can leave without delay.
- Condo or private garage at home. Share the gate or door codes, the visitor or owner spot to use, and whether the concierge should receive the key. The arrival is filmed, including the parked car and the closed door.
The same applies to clubs and private golf courses around the GTA, where cars are often parked by staff. If a building has rules about who may enter its garage, let us know when you book and we will plan the handover around them. Our drive my car home page has a fuller checklist of what to have ready.
The winter supercar rule
Toronto winters are long. From November to April, snow, slush and salt can arrive with little warning. Supercars on summer tyres are not built for those conditions, so our rule is simple: we do not drive a supercar on summer tyres in snow.
On those nights we offer the split mode with your car left secure where it is, in a hotel garage or private parking, and you and your guests driven home in a RydeBack car. The car can then be collected on a later, clearer day, with the same walk-around, sealed key and PIN-confirmed handover. If your car is on winter tyres, or it is an all-season luxury saloon or SUV, tell us when you book and we will plan the evening normally.
This is one reason exotic and high-value cars are assigned only to chauffeurs in our professional tier. You can read about their assessment on our chauffeurs page.
Ontario's limits, and why 0.05 matters
In Canada, the criminal blood-alcohol limit is 0.08. In Ontario, provincial sanctions begin earlier, at 0.05, with penalties that can include an immediate roadside licence suspension. The province sets out the rules on its impaired driving page. MADD Canada also publishes resources on impaired driving for Canadians.
We cannot tell anyone how many glasses keep them under a number, and we would not try. The point of a designated driver service is that the question never comes up. You do not drive, your car still comes home, and the decision was made when you booked rather than at the end of the night.
Designated driver service Toronto pricing, in Canadian dollars
Toronto is priced at CA$180 per chauffeur-hour for each of the two chauffeurs, plus CA$7 per km on your trip only. Hours are counted garage to garage with a three-hour minimum, then half-hour steps. The minimum booking, before distance, is CA$1,080. Estimated tolls, including the 407 ETR where your route uses it, are included.
Why three hours for a short trip across town? Because the clock runs garage to garage. Part of that time is the two chauffeurs travelling to you, part is the handover and walk-around, part is the drive home, and the rest is chauffeur 2 collecting chauffeur 1 so both can return to base. Most in-city evenings fit inside the minimum. If yours runs longer, extra time is added in half-hour steps, and you can see the effect on the price before you confirm.
Payment is taken in full when you book; there is no deposit. Cancel 72 hours or more before pickup for a full refund, or under 72 hours for 50%. A no-show, or a cancellation after the chauffeurs are dispatched, is not refunded; see our cancellation policy. A cleaning fee of CA$350 to CA$500 applies only if the RydeBack car is soiled, charged after the trip with photos. Tips are optional and go 100% to your chauffeurs.
Hotels, private clubs and corporate teams in Toronto can book for guests and executives; the clients we serve page explains how. To book in Toronto today, call 1-877-860-3388, write to support@rydeback.com or open the chat; online reservations are on the way.

Toronto questions, answered.
How much does a designated driver service in Toronto cost?
RydeBack charges CA$180 per chauffeur-hour for two chauffeurs, plus CA$7 per km on your trip, with a three-hour minimum. A short evening from Yorkville to Rosedale or Forest Hill, 5 to 12 km in three hours, comes to roughly CA$1,115 to CA$1,165. Longer trips are priced the same way.
Can someone drive my car home in Toronto after a Leafs or Raptors game?
Yes. Both chauffeurs meet you near Scotiabank Arena. One drives your car home or to your garage, the other drives you and your guests. Book as early as you can for big games.
Do you cover Oakville, King City and the rest of the GTA?
Yes. We serve the whole Greater Toronto Area, including Oakville's lakeshore, King City, the Bridle Path, Hoggs Hollow and Lawrence Park, as well as long-distance trips to Muskoka.
Will you drive my car on the 407 ETR?
If the 407 is the best route, yes. Estimated tolls are calculated into your price before you pay, so there is no separate bill to deal with later.
Can you meet me at Pearson with my own car?
Yes. Chauffeur 1 brings your car to the terminal or the private aviation terminal, and chauffeur 2 brings a RydeBack car for guests or luggage. Share your flight details when you book.
Do you drive supercars in a Toronto winter?
Not on summer tyres in snow. From November to April, if conditions turn, we take you home in a RydeBack car and leave your car secure where it is, or collect it later on a clearer day.
What is the drink-drive limit in Ontario?
The criminal limit is 0.08, and Ontario's provincial sanctions start at 0.05. The province explains the details on its impaired driving page. With RydeBack, you do not need to drive at all.
Can I book a personal driver in Toronto for a whole day?
Yes. A personal driver Toronto day of six hours covering 40 to 70 km comes to roughly CA$2,440 to CA$2,650. Choose ride in your own car if you would like to be driven in your own vehicle.
Can you collect my car from a hotel or condo garage downtown?
Yes. Give us the level and bay, any access codes, and the name of the person who should receive the key at the other end. The car is filmed at collection and again once it is parked and the garage door is closed.
