Safe driver Dubai: the local name for a familiar need

In the UAE, the service most countries call a designated driver is known as a safe driver. You have been out for dinner or at an event, you should not drive, and you would like your car at home in the morning rather than in a hotel basement. A safe driver Dubai booking solves that by putting a sober professional behind the wheel of your own car.

That costs more than a single-driver arrangement, deliberately. You are paying for two professionals, a second car and a recorded chain of custody, which is what an owner of a rare or valuable car should expect when someone else holds the key.

Whether it is a Rolls-Royce Cullinan after a family dinner, a G-Class after an afternoon at a beach club or a Lamborghini after a late night in DIFC, the make and model on your booking decides which chauffeur is sent. Supercar, manual-gearbox and long-wheelbase assignments go only to chauffeurs endorsed for them.

How our safe driver service in Dubai works on the night

1. Book ahead. Share the venue, your home or hotel, where the car should go, and its make and model. You pay the full amount at booking, with no deposit to arrange.
2. Two chauffeurs, one arrival. Their names reach you when they are assigned, followed by a message as they set off.
3. Valet or kerbside handover. We meet you at the hotel entrance, the restaurant drop-off or the tower lobby. Your PIN is checked against the chauffeur's before anything else happens.
4. Key sealed, car filmed. The key goes into a numbered Faraday pouch, and a full photo and video walk-around is uploaded to your evidence vault.
5. Separate routes. Chauffeur 1 takes your car by the most direct route to wherever it is going. Chauffeur 2 drives you and your guests in the cooled RydeBack car.
6. Handover at home. On arrival your car is filmed again, and the key is released only after a PIN-confirmed handover to you or to whoever you nominated, such as a house manager or building concierge.

Prefer to ride in your own car? Chauffeur 1 drives you in it and chauffeur 2 follows as a chase car, at the same price. If your car is going to a garage in one part of the city while you head somewhere else, chauffeur 1 returns by taxi; that fare is estimated upfront and settled at cost, capped at 25% above the estimate. Valet handovers at hotels, DIFC, Dubai Marina, Jumeirah and the Palm

Much of Dubai's evening life runs through valet desks, and a good safe driver handover respects how they work. At a hotel or restaurant, give us your valet ticket number and we wait at the desk with you while the car is brought round. The walk-around happens there, in good light, before chauffeur 1 drives away.

• DIFC: dinners and receptions in the financial centre often end at podium drop-offs. We confirm the exact entrance with you so both chauffeurs are in the right place.
• Dubai Marina: towers with shared basements and visitor bays. Tell us your bay number and any access-card routine for the car park.
• Jumeirah: beachfront hotels and villa streets. For a villa, we deliver the car to the driveway or garage you specify and photograph it parked.
• Palm Jumeirah: resort valets on the crescent and private villas on the fronds. If your community gate keeps a guest list, send us the details so the chauffeurs can be registered in advance.

Summer heat, supercars and comfortable pickups

From late spring into autumn, Dubai evenings can stay hot well past midnight. Two things matter more in that heat. First, nobody should wait outside longer than necessary: chauffeur 2 arrives with the passenger car already cooled, so you and your guests can step straight in while the handover is completed. Second, a high-performance car deserves a careful look before it is driven. The video walk-around includes the dashboard and any warning lights, so the condition of the car at handover is on record, not left to memory.

For long nights at an outdoor venue, consider booking a standby window. The hours are agreed and paid upfront, and you call the chauffeurs forward from the app when you are ready, rather than standing at a valet desk wondering when the car will appear.

Safe driver Dubai prices in AED

Every RydeBack in Dubai is priced the same way. Two chauffeurs are billed at AED 460 per chauffeur-hour, garage to garage, with a three-hour minimum and half-hour steps. Your own trip is then charged at AED 18.50 per km. The chauffeurs' journeys to and from you are already covered by the hours, so distance is never charged twice. Salik toll gates on your route are estimated and included.

• Minimum booking, before distance: AED 2,760.
• A three-hour evening from Downtown Dubai or DIFC to Emirates Hills or Palm Jumeirah, covering 25 to 40 km: roughly AED 3,220 to AED 3,500.
• The same journey booked for four hours garage to garage, for a later finish or a longer wait: roughly AED 4,140 to AED 4,420.

Figures are before tax. Cancel 72 hours or more before pickup for a full refund, or receive 50% back inside 72 hours; no refund applies after dispatch or for a no-show, as explained in our cancellation policy. Safe driver Abu Dhabi: long-distance trips from Dubai

RydeBack's service area is Dubai. Journeys to or from Abu Dhabi are booked as long-distance trips and priced in exactly the same way: two chauffeurs by the hour, garage to garage, plus the per-km rate on your own trip. Because the chauffeurs set out from Dubai and return to Dubai, the hours for an Abu Dhabi job include that travel.

A typical example: you drove to Yas Island for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and want yourself and your car back in Dubai at the end of the night. With five to six hours garage to garage and 120 to 150 km on your own trip, the price comes to roughly AED 6,820 to AED 8,300 before tax, with estimated tolls included. Business dinners in the capital, weekend visits and airport runs follow the same logic. The safe driver app: live status from handover to home

People looking for a safe driver app in Dubai usually want two things: an easy way to arrange the trip and a clear view of what is happening. RydeBack runs as a web app that you add to your phone's home screen. Once your booking is confirmed, every stage appears in it live: chauffeurs assigned, en route, keys secured, departed, arrived and keys returned. The same updates reach you by email or text, and WhatsApp is available as a channel in Dubai. Chauffeurs employed through an RTA-licensed partner

In Dubai, our chauffeurs are employed through a partner licensed by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the emirate's transport regulator, and that partner also operates the passenger car. Each chauffeur holds a UAE driving licence and an RTA permit arranged through the partner, and has passed city approval, a criminal background check, a driving-record check, an interview and a supervised assessment drive. Supercars and other high-value cars are assigned to our professional tier, so a mid-engined coupé or a large luxury SUV is driven by someone assessed for it.
